At the International Conference "Parallel computational technologies" (PaVT'2008), CAS staff has made a presentation: N.Yu.Bykov, L.Yu.Nikolaeva, "Realization of high efficiency computation algorithms in programs of direct statistical simulation of rarefied gas flows".

The solemn presentation of honorable SPbSPU diplomas for achievements on 2007 year results took place in the meeting room of SPbSPU academic council. There are the employees of the Center among diplomas recipients: V.A.Yerokhin for scientific achievements, A.G.Alexeev for long-term fruitful scientific-education work, D.V.Leshchev for successes in scientific competitions, N.K.Kiseleva for participation in congress activity.

The ceremony for the start of the FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) project took place in Gesellschaft fuer Schwerionenforschung
(GSI, Darmstadt, Germany) on December, 7 2007. The budget of the project is more than a billion euros. The project is financed by more than 10 different countries including Russia. Annette Schawan, Federal Minister of Education and Research of Germany, addressed her welcoming speech to the participans. CAS was represented on this ceremony by Prof. V.A.
Yerokhin.

In Saint-Petersburg scientific center of the Russian Academic of Science was hold a meeting under the presidency professor Eduard Tropp on development of GRID’s infrastructure in Saint-Petersburg and North-West region and about staff training. The aim is to hold intensive dealerships by Russian scientists with scientific datum in nanotechnologies, biology and etc. In this worshop took part senior researcher of the CAS Adrey Pisarev.

NIS-NEST Workshop on FP7 participation and proposal preparationhe will held in the Polytechnical University (Grazhdanskij pr., 28, room 228). The one-day FP7 workshop will take place within the framework of the NIS-NEST Project: "Opening up the New and Emerging Science and Technology in Eastern European Countries"

Kozlov K.N., the research fellow of Department of Computational Biology CAS SPU took part in the Regional school for students and young scientists "Practical implementation of scientific and technical innovations. Methods and Approaches", October 10-16. The School was held in the House of Scientists in Lesnoy. Fedorov M.P., rector of SPU, gave a welcome speech.

The School was organized as a part of program "UMNIK" ("The participant of competition for young scientists in science and innovations") of Fund of Bortnik I.M. with the help of SPU, Fund "TVN", Federal agency for science and innovations and Ministry for education and science of Russian Federation.

During the School each participant will prepare a short business plan of his own project with help of experienced lecturers.
